On November 12, 2025, an informative webinar was organised by the Higher Education and Science IT Shared Service Centre (VPC) in cooperation with the Latvian Council of Science (LCS) on the preparation of data management plans (DMP) and research data management practices in general.

The webinar was dedicated to the implementers of LCS projects – representatives of the Fundamental and Applied Research Programme (FARP), the State Research Programme (SRP) and PostDoc projects. The participants of the event gained insight into the LCS requirements and good practice examples related to the development of DMP, as well as became familiar with the implementation of FAIR principles and open science in research processes. In addition to the basic principles of data management, participants were provided with practical information about the available support for researchers in data preparation, structuring and ensuring long-term accessibility.

The webinar attracted a wide audience of more than 180 participants, including FARP, SRP and PostDoc project implementers and other interested parties. The active discussion included questions about data management requirements, data depositing options and choice of repositories, available research infrastructures in Latvia, practical aspects of DP development, linking data and publications, as well as data steward support.

The presentations shown during the webinar (in Latvian) are available here:
