On 12 May 2026, the online training seminar “Legal Aspects of Research Data Processing” took place, organized by the Higher Education and Science IT Shared Services Centre (VPC). The seminar focused on legal issues related to the processing of protected research data, potential risks, and ways to mitigate those risks.
During the training, topics covered included intellectual property protection in the research process, the specifics of commercial research, trade secret protection, the processing of personal data, including sensitive and health data, data transfer, and reuse. Special attention was paid to the practical aspects of processing protected data, common mistakes, examples, and recommendations.
The seminar was led by Anna Vladimirova-Krjukova, Kaspars Frīdenbergs-Ansbergs, and Ksenija Semjonova from SIA “ERNST & YOUNG BALTIC”.
