The choice of repository is most often up to the researchers, although sometimes funders or institutions may specify or recommend specific repositories where datasets should be deposited. The choice of repository should preferably be based on various criteria – research sector, cost, sustainability of the repository, amount of data available, etc. (see repository selection material below).
