On December 17, VPC data stewards – Kaspars Bērziņš, Daina Kosīte, Kristaps Oškalns, and Gita Rozenberga – visited the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI) to introduce researchers to the fundamentals of research data management.

During the seminar, data stewards introduced the principles of open science, requirements for data management plans, and best practices in data management, as well as options for long-term data preservation and data sharing. In addition to the theoretical overview, researchers participated in hands-on activities by analyzing and evaluating data management plans and discussing possible improvements together with the data stewards.

The discussions also covered the support that curators can provide in daily research work, particularly in relation to establishing institutional collections in the DataverseLV repository.

In addition to data management topics, researchers were introduced to EOSC infrastructure initiatives and Latvia’s science digitalization projects.

We would like to express our gratitude to the Institute’s Director, Modris Greitāns, and the team for the warm welcome and for organizing the seminar!
