Data stewards from universities represented within the Latvian Data Stewards Network project and the Higher Education and Science IT Shared Services Center (VPC) regularly organise seminars and training to strengthen the skills of researchers and academic staff in research data management and the implementation of open science principles. These trainings are aimed at transferring practical knowledge and discussing current trends.
So far, events have been organised on the following topics:
- Introduction to research data management and the role of data stewards in research
- Development of a data management plan
- Open science and research data management
- Short-term and long-term data storage and documentation in research
- Data set quality. Preparation, cleaning and organisation before publication in the repository
The series of seminars will be continued, adapting to the changing requirements in research and the growing interest in the academic environment. Not only the staff of the organising institutions, but any researcher, doctoral student or academic employee who is interested in quality data management and the implementation of open science principles in practice is invited to the events.
