On 12 February this year, a doctoral networking event was held at Rīga Stradiņš University under the theme “The Role of the Data Stewards in Doctoral Studies.” The event was open to all interested participants and was also attended by doctoral students from other Latvian higher education institutions. The aim of the event was to highlight the importance of research data management in doctoral studies, as well as the support provided by data stewards at various stages of doctoral education.
Laura Badūne, Data Steward at RSU, introduced the role of the data steward and the available support opportunities in research data management.
Daina Kosīte, Data Steward and Knowledge Transfer Lead at the Higher Education and Science IT Shared Service Centre (VPC), shared her experience of collaborating with data stewards during her doctoral studies, including challenges and solutions encountered in the Netherlands at Erasmus MC University Medical Center Rotterdam.
During the discussion session, participants actively shared their experiences and challenges in research data management, gaining practical recommendations for future collaboration with data stewards.
