Data steward Mikus Melderis participated in the training, where participants learned both theoretical and practical aspects related to the use of large-scale data in biomedicine.

During the training, special attention was paid to the use of R Studio in epidemiological data analysis, including data formatting, structuring, and creation of analytical workflows. Participants also learnt methods for processing and evaluating gene expression data, as well as principles of data publishing and management, including file structures, formats, and databases used. The course was led by experienced instructors – Olga Titova, Aleksandr V. Sokolov, and Nikolay Oskolkov – who provided in-depth insights into biostatistics, epidemiology, and omics data analysis approaches.

Data stewards’ participation in such training strengthens knowledge about biodata management and quality assurance, which is essential for the implementation of open science and FAIR principles. Such events also provide an opportunity to popularise data stewards and data management services among other participants and researchers, promoting understanding of their importance in the research process. Such experience helps develop the research data management ecosystem in Latvia and promotes cooperation between data specialists and biomedical researchers.

From October 15 to 17, the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis hosted the TARGETWISE project training course “Training in Large-Scale Biodata Analysis Methods”, dedicated to improving biodata processing and analysis skills.

[1

post-3549","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
